The New York Film Critics Circle is the North American critics’ guild that inaugurates the official season of awards granted by the different associations of chroniclers and reporters specialized in cinema. Awards have been awarded since 1935; this year, they have reached their 89th edition. The most anticipated award, best film, has gone to Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, the thriller denouncing the massacre suffered by the Indians of the Osage Nation in the 1920s and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone (from First Cow ).
Scorsese’s Apple Studios production, in our cinemas since last October 20, has been honored with two awards and Best Film for its actress Lily Gladstone. The same two awards that last year’s winner, Tar by Todd Fied, with Cate Blanchet as the protagonist, won.
